Beauty Rat Snake

A beauty rat snake crosses a road in Taiwan, this harmless snake can be several meters long and looks quite intimidating. It being my first encounter with a seriously big snake I was a little unsure how it would react, but eager to photograph it, fear had to wait. However my camera battery died when I pressed the shutter! My spare battery was in my rucksack. I fumbled frantically to find it, keepng one eye on the snake and watched with despair as it slowly crossed the road. Finally I managed to fit a battery and take a couple of snaps before it vanished into the undergrowth.
