Fixie bikes

While in Taiwan there was a growing trend for 'fixie bikes'. These single-gear bikes do not free wheel and instead utilise the fixed gear for braking. The bikes are usually stripped down to their bare essentials, making them lightweight and ideal for flat urban commuting. In fact they originated from track racing cycles and even I had one back in the 1960s, which I used for training. So anyone who thought they were a new discovery is mistaken. However this popular worldwide trend with the younger generation has led to some very creative designs in eye-popping colours.
