Blue-tailed skink

The aptly named blue-tailed skink with its stunning blue tail was a common feature in Taiwan but difficult to photograph being lightening quick. I chased them for over a year before getting this shot, which even then was not great, but at least shows the blue tail. Its tail is designed to break off in the event of capture, allowing the skink to escape, despite minus its tail, which fortuneatly eventually grows back.
